Each year the girls get a new ornament that describes something about them that year. We give them the ornament when we put up the Christmas Tree. This year Janika got Hannah Montana because she is obsessed with her. Makayla got a Sleeping Beauty ornament because that is her favorite princess. Kierra got a first Christmas rocking horse for obvious reasons. All of the ornaments this year are picture frames.

Another tradition that we started a couple years ago is...
Starting in December we have a manger that the kids fill with straw (one piece at a time) all month by doing good deeds so that by Christmas Eve Baby Jesus will have a "soft" bed to lay in. We put the baby Jesus in the top of the Christmas Tree to help remind the kids what they are supposed to be doing. The kids have really loved this and it helps get them to do their chores so they can put in a straw. On Christmas Eve we pull down Baby Jesus and lay him in the manger.
